Lead Mountain Update 16

However, with the upcoming holidays and having two weeks off I should be able to sit down and get painting!

-Past Charge, 2015

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That didn’t happen, too busy enjoying Christmas with my family.

On the other hand, I got a tank!

Lead Mountain Update 15

Sadly not quite as fast this week thanks to getting ready for Christmas and the work Christmas party. However, I have managed to get a few more models painted.

IMG_20151219_194225-01

The first set was the duplicates of the Contractors Charlie and the ISA agent I received in my kickstarter order. The original set was among the first models I painted and I was keen to put a different spin on them. As well as painting them up in less military garb (no camo allowed), I also green stuffed shemaghs and a hood – not quite ready to sculpt figures but every little practise helps. Only issues with these models were a few mould lines I missed an issue with the basecoat. These were some of the last models I airbrushed so there was a little bit of excess paint I had to remove. These guys are all ready to be riding around in SUVs, keeping assets safe.

The second set I finished is enough guys to bring the African Union forces up to a full squad. The two support weapons should give them a boost while the UGL wielding commander is perfect to be shouting orders. He comes from a different Spectre range than the rest of the AU guys, but its does make him look a little more like a hardened vet, given a new squad with all their shiny gear. They should be an interesting force to use – mixture of lower experience levels but with some rules regarding Western (or Eastern) advisors.

So I fell a little bit behind my target but the final two models arrived. Once got painted this week (the African commander) while the other joins the Deniable Ops guys waiting to be painted when I’m up north. Hopefully will get the vehicles painted soon – all ready for a wargaming day I’ll be having in York.

Lead Mountain Update 14

I got a fair number of models painted last week and almost all of the remaining spectre figures have turned up. This means, barring any sudden cool releases in January, we have a straight shot to the challenge’s deadline at the end of January. I’ve already go some models for my post challenge project but they are sat in a box all ready for post Christmas modelling.

So what turned up? Well all Task Force Operators are accounted for – the new breacher looks like its going to be one of my all time favourites and the pirate gun should be interesting to use on the field. I’m not quite sure how I’ll be painting these guys – more multicam + other or maybe a mix of camo (inspired by BF4) will be most likely. The deniable operators also turned up but I’m waiting until the last guy (who I forgot to put on the order) finally arrives.

As for the weeks painting, I finally cleared out all the old style Operators. Four were painted in multicam + civies to go with the rest of the task force while the other three were painted to match the US Rangers I did around a year ago. These now means both groups have plenty of guys to be using in any sort of situation.

I also painted up the undercover GRU Operatives. The female leader was originally going to be a direct reproduction of a certain female Russian agent from Captain America: The Winter Soldier but I ended up just using that as a base and tweaking out the colour of her vest and trousers. The rest of the Russians are dress in civies, with two of them in track suits and the rest in a combination of gear. Overall, fun set of models to paint and I look forward to some more covert missions.

Based on the models and time left, I need to average out at around 13 models a week. However, with the upcoming holidays and having two weeks off I should be able to sit down and get painting!
