April is over and it’s now time to catch up on what’s I’ve been doing. A pretty good month actually, I managed to get a fair amount done!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COLLECTING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Shockingly, I continue on my “not buying physical models” spree, mostly because I’m just printing them instead. That said, a friend of mine and I did exchange some presents we hadn’t managed to give to each other. As well as a few more Empress WW2 pieces, I also got the giant cat! (who I immediately built).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, at the end of the month, I purchased a Complete Target Package for Black Powder Red Earth 28mm, thanks in part to some glorious new OPFOR figures that have been released. It’s currently in the postage dimension so we’ll see when it arrives – it’s on the expensive side, so I really want to get my hands on it and see how much it adds to the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3D PRINTING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As I reported earlier this month<\/a>, I printed a load of 6mm buildings to play around with. This is definitely a scale that I would have zero interest in aside from 3d printing – I’m not going to go buy all the pieces from somewhere else or put together an order of tiny pieces of metal. However, downloading the files (many for free) and just leaving it running is simple, easy to do and quick to get together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then I printed some more! One thing I did realise is that some actually you can end up easily going through piles of resin. But on the plus side, I will easily have enough to fill a table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve also continued printing out more fantasy figures thanks to the various patreons I’m on. I continue to really enjoy getting the new stuff each month, giving me lots of cool ideas for characters to include in fantasy gaming. It’s also fun to just have new things to paint and try out, safe in the knowledge that I can easily repair\/replace anything<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also talked about printing with the Saturn and where I’m going next<\/a>. I actually have already taken the next step with a Mono screen installed in the Mars. I’m going to be doing a new update soon with how the Mono change has worked out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BUILDING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of the giant cat, I built it! It’s actually much bigger than I thought it was but I can already think up some fun scenarios using it. It’s also going to be really fun to paint up!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAINTING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I did also paint some Ultramodern stuff up. The Aftermath team<\/a> was a really fun set to sit down and paint with a few fun little details I got to work on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These guys from Combat Octopus was also a really fun set to paint<\/a>. Taking the models from the Eastern European criminals but with the MENA heads turned them into a really cool unique team to put on the tabletop. I’m thinking of making some more, but we’ll see how it goes. I might even set them up as an alternative team for some BPRE 28mm shenanigans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, with a pile of Ultramoderns on the way, I’ve really enjoyed painting up the fantasy figures I’ve been printing. It’s a different style of painting and variety of sculpts is also nice. I’m really enjoying the pieces from Vae Victis and Last Sword included here – they have a lovely amount of character to each, without being a pain in the ass to paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GAMING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Game wise, I managed to fit in a few of them. As well as the playtest with the Dastardly Opponent (see below), I also managed to get some tiny mans in over the Easter Weekend with some Napeolonics. I wrote more about it in this post<\/a> but I’m still really enjoying the Lardy Rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then at the end of the month it was time for Robot Wars<\/a>! It was a really fun game and it does not help that a friend of mine keeps offering me some figures he want to get rid of. I don’t think I’ll actually get into it but I’ll be quite happy to jump into a game or two with someone already bought into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WRITING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I finally got to actually play some of the fantasy game I’ve been working on! I mentioned the basics in the SITREP<\/a> but since then I’ve done a little more work on it ready for another testing session on Wednesday. I’m definitely excited with how it’s going, but now I need to see if the target audience (my sister) is interested in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BLOGGING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The blog did pretty well this month – I managed 9 non-update posts this months, including finally shipping the Courage In Contact article<\/a> that I had originally written a few months ago and was just sat waiting for pictures. It did do incredibly well and reminded me how much I enjoyed writing the big project posts. The 3d printing post did something similar – I definitely want to do more like them. I’m also wanting to start writing up some more of my ChargeReal fiction\/missions, but part of it is just finding myself happy to publish the more creative writing. Ah well, we’ll see soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Youtube project is still ongoing, it’s just taking a bit of time to get up and running. It’s something I’m seeing as the next step for what I want to do with the blog – making it easier to absorb than several thousand words and hopefully widen out the possible users. My problem is that if I’m going to do it, I want to do it right. Hence the delay in getting things together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
