Editor note – there are currently 9 draft SITREP posts sat on the blog. The idea behind SITREPs was originally to write them as fast as possible and get them out, keeping the blog humming along and mapping my own hobby work to posts. The problem is that I take way too long to write anything of reasonable length and then suddenly the week is over, there is another edition of The News Stand and the non-news content is 0 despite actually getting on with a pile of things in the background. At the same time, the once-a-month project update hasn’t really excited me for a while. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, new plan – Monday is the news, Sunday is the weekly update, SITREPs are longer form pieces that cover specific topics and Battle Reports are back soon!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week has been mostly revolving around getting my home server back up and running after a failed migration to a new set of drives – aka, the IT side of my hobby time. However, I have managed to get a few hobby-related things done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Big thing on the technical side, the Mars Pro (complete with its upgraded Mono screen) is now back up and running. It’s got a few little quirks I need to work on (for some reason it needs the home value reset after every print) but it’s handy to have a smaller printer to run next to the big one (even if the resolution is lower). After getting the exposure time set, it’s been printing tires…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tires for this massive pile of vehicles I’ve been assembling! These are all from Modern Miniatures<\/a> (who is getting a full SITREP once I get into these vehicles a little more, mostly from Patreon releases or the Modern Vehicles mega set campaign<\/a>. All of these vehicles printed out really well (including some neat 3d printing specific design elements) and I can’t wait to get them painted up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also on the printer this week were two releases, one from Spectre <\/a>and one from Combat Octopus.<\/a> The Agents Crisis Response Squad <\/a>release was unexpected but printed with ease, while the Combat Octopus Marksmen<\/a> was a rush job to try out the pre-posed (and pre-equipped-with-the-right-pouches) figures for an exciting release. There was also a pair of missing agents from the Agents QRF<\/a>, so hopefully getting these on the painting desk soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the last part of the work this week was getting the great big MDF sale kicked off, beginning with getting it all catalogued. This week I’ll be taking pictures of each item and loading them into a blog post ready for people to peruse. One thing this has illuminated is that I have way too much of this stuff, and there is going to be a large amount of Hobby Capital being freed up, even if I sold each piece off for way below market prices. I can also foresee some potential long-distance driving over the next few weeks, as I’m 100% not shipping this stuff via a courier – it’s even bulkier than I remember and that precious Yorkshire air is priceless! I need to apologise to the guys who mentioned an interest when I first mentioned the idea, hopefully I’ll get stuff for you out soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
