Spectre Miniatures Previews for Halloween And Has A Big Game With The Perrys<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First up, a step back from the Ultramodern from Spectre Miniatures<\/a> as they have a play-around before Halloween<\/a>. This mid-century gangster (currently with a WW2-era M1 Thompson while the correct M1928 is prepared for him) looks like it will be a little bit of fun for Spectre’s sculptor, which is what Halloween is for. No other details on what the whole thing will be but potential Spectre Operations: Chicago?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve has been visiting some old friends to have a play around with Spectre Operations V3. As you can see above, the Perrys have a very nice wargames room, including a gigantic board and plenty of terrain meaning that you can get several great shots on it. There is a full battle report on the Spectre Facebook page<\/a> (including all those awesome pictures) and it’s well worth a read. Definitely sounds like much fun was had. We’re also going to be getting some more gameplay videos to explain some of the more troublesome elements of the ruleset, so watch this space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warfighter Miniatures Returns With The Promise Of A Kickstarter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Warfighter Miniatures<\/a> has returned from the dead (sadly no information if he’s stopped being snarky in Facebook posts) to announce an upcoming Kickstarter for a brand-new set of figures<\/a>. These are from a new sculptor than the previous ranges, digitally designed (based on the previews we saw earlier this year) and soon to be cast in metal. In the announcement post, Warfighter announced that these sets have been developed with the assistance of IDF Operators, IWI and Agilite (an Israeli tactical brand) to help get the details. In line with this, the first set shown is a team of Israeli SF (with both Sayeret and Shayetet-13 on the way), armed with Tavors and wearing several bits of kit specific to the IDF. These are just a taster, with figures for the SF in multiple roles such as ground combat, naval boarding and recce on the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the nation of Anthalonica is not being abandoned as the ADF will be receiving sets as well. These figures are armed with a mix of HK weapons and SIG 550 variants and wearing the distinctive IVAS system (a gift from the US in the world of Anthalonica). Some of these figures would be very suitable for real-world applications as well, so it’s worth seeing what else the range will include. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No details on when this Kickstarter is being launched, but more previews have been announced for the next few weeks so we can probably expect them soon. It’s also worth noting that Warfighter is clearing house, selling off several lines on sale to the end users and also offering to sell the rights and molds for others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Austin Miniatures Shows Off Ze Germans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Austin Miniatures<\/a>, fresh off their Kickstarter, has been showing off some of the stretch goals from that campaign. Germans with G36s were one of the additional nations (along with the Aussies we saw last week and the British SF) and they are now done, showing the different poses that will be available in that pack. The final releases will have all the figures modular in a similar way to the rest of the range, separating in legs, torsos\/arms and head. No date on when these will be delivered to backers, but I’m sure we’ll get more details soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Empress Offers More Ru…And They Are Gone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Empress Miniatures<\/a> has been offering some Modern Russians for sale, imported from a Russian figure manufacturer. However, if you’re reading this when the post goes up (or honestly if you missed the original post by a day or two) then you may have had no idea what was going on. It seems like these Russians (in this case Wagner Mercenaries) are either arriving in small numbers and selling out quickly (hence them not arriving in stock) or social media reaction is causing the posts to disappear. Either way, I have heard these boxes were on sale at Partizan last weekend so I’ll be interested to see where they pop up in the wider hobby community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fire! Modern Combat Announces Kickstarter Launch Date<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fire! Modern Combat<\/a> has finally given us a date for when their Kickstarter is going to launch<\/a>! It seems like it’s taken a while to get here but the full Kickstarter (for both the rulebook and the starter set) will be kicking off on the 19th of February 2025. 2025 is closer than many people would assume, or perhaps hope, but before you know it we’ll be seeing the Kickstarter launch. Unfortunately, the YouTube announcement which contains a few extra details seems to have confused the YouTube automatic subtitles so I struggled to follow along, but if you know Spanish you can hear more on YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Urban Scatter Gaming Announces USG Objectives – and Starts Off With A Bang<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Okay, I’m going to have to rush through this before Wedge manages to announce something else AS I’m writing. We have a new preview from Urban Scatter Gaming<\/a>, announcing a whole new range. USG Objectives is going to provide a set of 3D printable pieces ideal for focusing your gameplay around, either as objectives or tokens for various abilities. This first set is for Bombs and IEDs<\/a> – perfect for a whole variety of games, either as an objective to defuse before time runs out or as a nasty surprise for when someone kicks in the door. I do the devices hidden within the cardboard box and plastic container, perhaps something you can hide from the players. These pieces are also designed to work with other figures in the market, with the VBIED perfectly sided for Spectre and Miska vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No details on when these are released but with the range announcement, it’s going to be exciting to see what else we might be receiving for us to fight over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skull Forge Studios Creates Figures Ideal For Breacher<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Skull Forge Studios has<\/a> been hard at work, delivering a massive number of figures each month based on a variety of pop culture franchises as well as their own original pieces. This month, Skull Forge announced that they have been playing Black Site Studios “Breacher” (a game I also need to play) and have been inspired to sculpt a few mercenaries and goons<\/a> for use with the game. It seems they have also been watching John Wick, so the first teams are perfect for an underground criminal world. I think both of these sets will be very useful for a variety of games – I’m especially fond of the two characters, as I think there is space in the Ultramodern space for more realistic yet distinctive character models. These figures are out now for patrons, and I’m excited to see what else comes from their time playing Breacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turnbase Miniatures Launches Gakou Tactics! on Frontiers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Finally, Turnbase Miniatures<\/a> has launched its latest Frontiers project. Gakou Tactics Reloaded<\/a> is anime girls with guns brought to the tabletop, giving you five (plus stretch goals) operators with all the latest gear ready to be painted up. The stretch goals include three additional characters, a remake of the original team of four (plus dog) and (if it reaches the $5000 goal) development on a rules system to use them. I could laugh and say “no true wargamer will buy these” but seeing as multiple people I know in real life saw me looking at the preview page and said “That looks cool” I have a sneaky suspicion that actually this project is going to do reasonably well. More details coming as the campaign goes on, but if you want to jump in now and get them immediately, they are on Frontiers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
