Today is Remembrance Day, November 11th, the date of the armistice that ended the First World War. As wargamers, a hobby that plays at making war, I feel it’s important to take some time to remember the fallen of conflicts passed and ongoing, as well as the after-effects of all such wars. Today is one such day – take a moment to read up about the past and learn more about what was given up for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of news for today, we have a selection of updates. From commemorative figures to stock updates, previews and most excitedly two new projects to back, this week is definitely busy for all those interested in Modern Wargaming. Read on for more!<\/p>\n\n\n

Spectre Miniatures Releases Commemorative Figure For Remembrance Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To mark Remembrance Day, Spectre Miniatures<\/a> has released a very special release that is probably no longer available when you read this (unless you see it as soon as it went up). The Diorama, complete with custom base, shows a British Soldier of the First World War alongside his modern counterpart (a little preview of the upcoming British Army range), marking the passage of time. It’s also a set designed to help charities in the real world as well, with 50% of the profits from the sale of this set split between the Royal British Legion and Combat Stress. The set was available either as an unpainted set, ready for your own touch, or as a strictly limited. If it’s before midnight on the 11th of November, you can go pick up your own figure over on the Spectre store<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flank March Miniatures Launches ZAPAD 1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Following on from their Cold War British release “Lionheart”, Flank March Miniatures<\/a> has been hard at work on some Opposing Forces for them, the Soviet Motorstrelki. Today the project for these guys, named ZAPAD 1, has just been launched on Kickstarter. It’s promising to provide a well-rounded<\/a> starter set of STLs for building a force for any kind of game, with both the core platoon and plenty of additional support and alternative figures. \u00a360 gets you a reinforced platoon, complete with machine guns, ATGM and mortar teams, as well as the ability to add on the stretch goals. However, if you decide to go all in you not only get all the Blender files for kitbashing (available as a separate tier) but also all the stretch goals that will unlock during the campaign – these include some cool pieces, such as Tripod Mounted MGs, D-30 Howitzers, BMP riders and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with Lionheart, the figures are test printed and support for 15mm, 20mm and 28mm. However, this campaign introduces a new change – the 15mm figures are actually slightly tweaked for the smaller scale, with pieces such as weapons and fine details modified to make sure they don’t drop off at a moment’s notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I mentioned BMP riders before but of course you’ll need something for them to ride in. As part of this campaign, you can also add a BobMack3D Vehicle pack as an add-on, giving you the BMP-1, T-64B and BRDM-2 for 50% off their usual price. This is ideal as the Reinfroced Platoon actually includes the vehicle crew set that was in the last BobMack3D Kickstarter, letting you kit the vehicles up to support your newly arrived Motor Infantry. There is even a BattlegroundHD Campaign included as part of the campaign, giving you a ruleset to use your figures for (with the first scenario available for free right now<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to jump in on the project, it’s running for two weeks from today over on Kickstarter<\/a>. If you’re not wanting to print your own, however, you may want to keep an eye on Full Metal Miniatures<\/a> who will be selling cast versions as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black Powder Red Earth Announces Stock Disruption<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Small update from Echelon about Black Powder Red Earth 28mm<\/a> Complete Target packages (the main box to get into the game). Due to some production issues, a planned restock of tiles has been delayed 6-8 weeks. This means that there is only a limited stock of the starter box available for the rest of 2025 – if you want to jump in to this excellent game this year, you may want to take a trip to the store ASAP<\/a> and get your order sent off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Urban Scatter Gaming Adds A Mosque with Minaret To His MENA Range<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In his attempt to roll out enough buildings to let you recreate Fallujah, this week Urban Scatter Gaming<\/a> has released a Mosque, complete with minaret<\/a>. Ideal for use as a landmark on your MENA board, the Mosque has a relatively small footprint but packed full of character, idea for both setting up the background of your battlefield, or being a key location to fight around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

As you can see, this set is broken up into several pieces, ideal to print off the standard FDM form factor. It also means you can adjust the height of the minaret, ideal if you have issues with storage or just want to make a truly towering location for your marksmen or spotters to secure. There are also plenty of nice details on the building itself, perfect to make it look distinctive among the other MENA buildings. This set is already out on the Urban Scatter Gaming Gumroad if you want<\/a> to add it to your board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combat Octopus Launches Gothic Serpent, Previews More Convicts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Big news! The long-previewed Gothic Serpent project<\/a> from Combat Octopus<\/a> is now out! Using the MMF Frontiers format, the base set of 16 models is already available to be downloaded and printed right now but every backer will push the project forward through its stretch goals. Each of these will support the basic riflemen from the Core Set, adding RPG gunners, Machine Gun teams, Delta Assaulters and even vehicles. We’ve already pushed past the initial goal (additional heads for the US Army Rangers) and now we begin the march on the additional sets for the next 16 days. I’ve already printed off a few of them to play around with, so expect some more coverage coming very soon. For now though, if you want your own set of Rangers and Somalis, you can join in over on MMF<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Patrons, there has been a little delay as the Somali Project ate up a chunk of time, but CO has been keeping us updated with a set of previews for the rioting prisoners set. The first two fully finished figures have one prisoner still in chains (ideal for a whole host of scenarios) while the other has got his hands on a Glock to go with his crocks. We also have a shotgun-wielding figure most of the way there so the set should be done soon and out to patrons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modern Miniatures Assembles A MAN KAT1 Truck<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Finally, Modern Miniatures<\/a> has been showing off next month’s vehicle release, the MAN KAT1 6×6 7 Ton truck<\/a>. As always, MM has managed to design the vehicle in a way that means it is printable by regular form factor resin printers, allowing everyone to add to their convoys on the table. For Patrons, he’s also added a video showing it being assembled, which also shows off the fact those wing mirrors (a piece likely to be snapped off in transit) are separate pieces, perfect when it comes to keeping a kit looking its best. This set will be out at the start of December for the vehicle tier, and I can definitely see it turning up on quite a few people’s tables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
