SITREP: Faceless King

|

Another 3d printed model – this time from Vae Victis. I spotted this “Evil Paladin” among the special characters included in the Match release and just had to get to work on him. With the mask and crown, I was strongly inspired by both the Leper from Darkest Dungeon and Baldwin from Kingdom of Heaven.

Painting was, as you can see, pretty simple. I base coat all my miniatures in black (because I’m a psychopath) so painting in white requires some work. For this reason, I painted all the robes in Iraqi sand before covering in white. A black wash brought out all the details before going back over with a heavy drybrushing of white. The addition of the golden crown, the silver mask and the purple tinted sword all help to break up the white but I really like how the brown leather works alongside the robes.

As for gameplay, expect him to pop up in my fantasy skirmish game as a character. I can already see him being a villain that the players will later recruit. But seeing as how much I enjoyed painting this guy, I think I’ll be sticking with Vae Victis going forward.
