This week is a little quieter than most but we still have a few updates to look at from all the usual suspects. I’m seeing a suspicious number of marksmen this week…
As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week. If you like these roundups and find them useful, why not chip in on the Patreon?
Spectre Miniatures Previews More New Releases

Spectre Miniatures has kicked off this week by showing another 2021 release that is getting remasted. The original Agents Crisis Response Squad was very heavily inspired by a certain Ubisoft game (hence why everyone is rolling hard with rucksacks covered in guns and with a containment bag on the underside). These were some very nice figures (the style of weapons and visuals did lean more towards pop-culture than reality) so it was a little surprising to hear they they are going to be the next team remastered after the Criminal Heavies (although it made more sense when you realise these two packs were released together).
The new figures are a little more restrained both in terms of looks and equipment. Gone is the overloaded look in favour of civilian clothing mixed with chest rigs and ear protection. Rifles packing drum mags and Kriss Vectors are swapped for more familiar classics such as M4s, the SCAR-H and the MP7, with the heaviest piece of kit being a Negev LMG. There are still some touches to make them look like undercover/low-profile operatives who have grabbed some additional gear (such as the pair with SMGs in running gear) but I can see myself getting plenty of use out of this team.

We also got another look at the T-55 we covered last week (now with additional weathering) as well as confirming what is coming soon. Listed in the post with this vehicle was the list of what is coming soon – the BMP 1, BMP 2, regular T-55 and T-55 AMV (with ERA blocks) are on their way.
BobMack3d Shows Off The BTR-50K

With the fast-approaching World Revolution Kickstarter bringing you more Soviet vehicles of the Cold War, Bobmack has shown off the next vehicle, the BTR-50 APC. This lightly armoured vehicle from the 1950s turned up all over the world (including Ukraine) so it’s a handy addition for your force. Its a great transport for your less well-equipped troops as well as a good platform for mounting additional weapons on top of.

Speaking of, the Kickstarter is also going to include one such variant, the North Vietnamese BTR-50 with a ZU-23 on top. This is one vehicle that will be included in a three-model add-on for the main Kickstarter focus on gear for the NVA based around the other vehicles included in the Kickstarter. We’ll have another preview next Monday, so stand by for future updates.
Combat Octopus Shows Off Some Marksmen

After the Modern Marksman/Sharpshooters won the poll for this month’s set, Combat Octopus has been hard at work on the new set (while also battling the summer heat). The first two figures we’ve seen (thanks to the preview channel on the Ultramodern Wargaming Discord) are more concept pieces, with plenty of details that will need to be adjusted later. We’ll see if the prone figure will come with a PKM option when the set releases (although it has been confirmed the prone marksman will be using a rucksack as a rest) while the standing figure with a tripod should be a good addition for a setup weapon team. With these figures being promised to be less modular (aside from the weapon options) I can see this set needing some larger bases than usual.
Modern Miniatures Shows Off Some Marksmen and A 30mm RWS

Modern Miniatures has shown off some renders for various pieces coming next month. First up is what the Miniatures pledge will be receiving – two pairs (one standing, one kneeling) each with a Marksmen with the M107 anti-material rifle and a Spotter with a suppressed M4. All the figures are wearing modern tactical gear and with ghillie hoods, ideal to add to your forces as an attachment.

The main release next month is going to be a MAT-V vehicle and so it needs a suitably over the top weapon for it. In this case, Modern Miniatures is releasing the R-400S remote weapon system complete with 30mm cannon, M240 machine gun and a Javelin launcher. The system is split into several pieces for ease of printing or if you want to strip off certain parts (such as the Javelin tube). Both this and the miniatures will be released in July, alongside a MAT-V coming soon.
Turnbase Miniatures Delivers Tier 3 Insurgents and a State Of The Union
![](https://hntdaab.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/image-1-5.jpg)
Finally, Turbase Miniatures has shown off the Tier 3 figure for the May release. Designed to be some higher tier OPFOR assisting the insurgents, these figures look much more modern than the Tier 2 set that came out last week. These figures are still WIP but should be out soon.
Another update that came out this week was a bit of a “State of the Union” post from Ajerico (the guy behind Turnbase). This officially covers a lot of the points I mentioned back in the News Stand 27/05/2024 but also adds a few extra points. The big ones are in the upcoming months Turnbase will create some releases for the Vietnam era, Ajerico has been looking at some other projects to combat the burnout he’s been experiencing. This is a good sign to see from Turnbase and I hope that the change will help to improve on what they end up releasing to the Patrons.
Tabletop Terrain Kickstarter Provides All The Ruins You’ll Need
![](https://hntdaab.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/image-1-6.jpg)
As a little bit of an aside, I thought I’d mention this Kickstarter that I’m currently backing. “Buildings & Terrain WWII North African Campaign” looks to be a pretty great starting point for someone wanting some battlefield terrain to print for themselves. Things like sandbags and barricades are pretty common but there are some great concepts such as the foxholes, bunkers and the modular ruin pieces to put up against the walls. The Trench system (coming in both tall and short variants) should be perfect for setting up boards – the tall variant especially lets you build large system while still keeping your regular-sized figures (as opposed to chopping them in half. Despite being marketed as a North African set, I think it’s safe to say most of the pieces (aside from the builds) could work for most theatres, so it’s an ideal set to have waiting to be printed. The Kickstarter finishes in 7 days, so if you want your own set of STLs, jump in now. I will admit, my only concern is the lack of printed examples, but we’ll need to see.
