This week is a bit quieter, the month rolling on as we enter the final full week. However, we still have news from a few familiar faces, including some very cool items coming soon! Read on for more about what’s around for Ultramodern Gaming!
As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week. If you like these roundups and find them useful, why not chip in on the Patreon?
BobMack3d Launches World Revolution Kickstarter

BobMack3d kicks off this week’s post with the release of the latest Kickstarter (yes that one I’ve been previewing the last few weeks). World Revolution includes five mid-Cold War vehicles (T-55A tank, ZSU-23-4M self-propelled AA, BTR-60B APC, PT-76B light tank and BTR-50 APC) which are suitable for a whole selection of world powers (even to the present day). As with all Bobmack3d releases, the Kickstarter is available as both the base version and a version that adds the stowed variants as well. There are also two addon packs to expand your set – the Vietnam Add-On set adds three additional vehicles specific for use with the North Vietnamese Army, while the Soviet Vehicle crew (sculpted by Flank March) gives you five mounted figures and a dismounted crewman suitable for Soviets in the 1980s (although still usable for other countries that would be using these vehicles).
The stowed package is about £74 but this includes a pile of additional vehicles that will be included in the stretch goals – some of the highlights include the modernised T-55AM and T-55AMV (both of which are already unlocked) as well as various command and forward air controller vehicles (ideal for those playing the smaller scales) as well as both the T-54 and T-72 Ural to give you additional tank options for the under-equipped forces.
If you want even more vehicles, then the Tubro Backer tier includes another T-55 variant, the T-55AD (as shown above. This vehicle mounts the Drozd APS system, the first Active Protection System developed to protect tanks from incoming projectiles while unfortunately having a habit of shredding the infantry dismounted around it. It’s a lovely little vehicle and as with all the Turbo Backer vehicles, will only be available to those buying into the project at the higher tier. If you want to take a look at the Kickstarter and get your own Soviet vehicles, you can find it on the project page.
If you want a few more details on the projects, the team at Bobmack3d also recorded a live stream going over the set, as well as some additional chat. It’s well worth a watch and you can find it on YouTube.
Miska Miniatures Releases Undercover Agents

Miska Miniatures has released a new set ideal for the Ultramodern Gamer needing some more sneaky types for the tabletop. This pair of Undercover Agents has been released over on Wargaming 3D, giving you a pair of figures in civilian clothing but rolling a Uzi and a pistol in appendix carry. They are released both supported and unsupported and scaled for 28mm.
Black Hills Games Reveals Future Plans

While Black Hills Games is working away on the July release of Bundeswehr soldiers, he has also announced a few things that are coming up soon. August and September will be focused on French forces, giving plenty of troops in a style similar to the British release from a few months back. October will be an extension for one of the existing sets (such as the British I mentioned). Moving into the future, it seems that Black Hills has an interest in the tactical gear of the 1990s and 1980s so we may see a few more historical sets every so often, with Delta Force in Somali mentioned.
We’re still waiting for a preview of what’s coming out this month but we should expect an update soon.
Combat Octopus

You can tell a release is fast approaching because the images from Combat Octopus are getting better and better. We’ve got an almost complete version of one of the female operators with the SCAR-H while the WIP M82 will bring an additional element of long-range firepower to a few figures., The head selection also shows off some new pieces to add to the toybox, with highlights including a female head using the GPNVGs and a selection of bearded and moustached operators for that grizzled look. These figures should be released early next month, but you can get your hand on the first set of marksmen right now.
Additionally, we’ve also had some updates on the Loyalty Rewards that will be coming soon. The first pack will be released in September and it is going to give you two figures wearing plate carriers and Gen 3 clothing but more importantly bringing you an Anti-tank capability in the form of the RPG-7, the PzF3 and (potentially the Carl Gustav). This team sounds ideal to add to the last few releases (the marksman and NAWE sets) giving you the ability to set up a highly equipped Western-style force for wargaming with. For those of you not backing the Patreon, the set will be available six months after the initial release as a paid-for item. The loyalty reward scheme sounds pretty good, with the month count being retroactive – even if you have recently stopped, you’ll still be rewarded for loyalty.
Turnbase Miniatures Updates July’s Release

Finally, it seems SOMEONE reads this as after last week’s editorial note, it seems Turnbase Miniatures went back and corrected the July releases to be more accurate to the Vietnam era US troops they were attempting to portray. From the 90mm gun on the M48 to the M14’s no longer having a RIS rail and the troops having the correct helmet for the era, these changes are all good to see – we even got a figure M79 grenade launcher. I’m still not quite sure how these obvious errors managed to slip past the initial research and into a release (although the update note may have given a hint with the mention of a timescale) but as I say, it is good to see them actually corrected and provide a better product that the customer is paying for. I could add some more information but I think multiple personal outbursts per month would be against the vibe of this post! Stand by for more updates on the August release soon.

If you want to support my work on gathering the news together, my Patreon is the best way to keep things going. With a minimal cost of £1 a month, every little helps to keep the news spigot flowing and to let me cover more of the suppliers out there.
Of course, if you are a REAL news fan, there is a brand new tier called, shockingly, News Fan. For £5 a month (or £1.25ish a news post), you can guarantee you’ll get your weekly dose of news updates.
If you think the news is only okay but would like to see me actually do something slightly more unique, you can join the ChargeReal Researchers. For only £7.50 a month, you’ll get to see first insight into the ongoing world of the ChargeReal, as I detail my fictional Ultramodern setting. Researchers will also get thanked in the final product as well as some input into the ongoing work such as suggesting ideas and providing feedback.
