We’ve got a good mix of updates this week in the Ultramodern space, bringing together some exciting steps forward for our little niche. Urban Scatter Gaming can’t be stopped, Echo Dark announces a partnership, and we have previews and news from Black Hills, Combat Octopus and Modern Miniatures. Let’s jump in!
As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week. If you like these roundups and find them useful, why not chip in on the Patreon?
Echo Dark Studios Announces EU Stockist

In exciting news for both Echo Dark Studios and friend of the blog Desk-Ops, InCountry 2.0 has an EU stockist! The entries aren’t up on the website just yet but this partnership should offer InCountry players within the EU a slightly more competitive shipping rate for the new range. No other details just yet, but knowing Dan, I can assume he’s pushing to be able to provide as much of the range as possible. Expect to see them reappear on The News Stand when they are available.
In addition, for the rest of this week until the 26th of April, the main store is running a 20% discount. If you use the code INXESTR25 at checkout, you’ll get a saving. The good news for people like me is that it’s everything on the store, including the STLs, so it’s ideal to fill up your collection (such as the Iraqi CTF and Quds force figures that I especially like the look of).
Urban Scatter Gaming Releases Indirect Support and Fencing
After several weeks of fantastic buildings that Urban Scatter Gaming has been releasing, you’d expect him to take a break. But nope! Instead, he’s giving us a double bill of releases, ideal for the smaller details on your table.

The Indirect Ordinance pack provides everything you need to decorate a forward firing base, with sandbags and ruined walls to provide some low cover. The two included weapon systems (an 80mm mortar and a Hell Cannon that has been seen in Syria) come with both the weapon system, ammo crates and more. I really like the weapon cache for the mortar (giving you a set of mortar crates and loose bombs) and the stack of Hell Cannon rounds ready for shooting. The pack doesn’t include the figure in the image above but does show some of the edits you make to Black Hills Games figures to get them to fit.

A more general purpose for wargamers is the Chainlink Fence set. This set is ideal for covering your board in protective fencing, with three different styles (Security, Mid-Height and Residential) for everything from high security areas down to the classic garden fence. Each style comes with various modular pieces (such as gates and pillars), further expanding the setup. On top of all that, the set can be printed in both resin and FDM, making it easier to churn these things out. I was also happy to see a late addition to the set being a double-wide vehicle gate, request by folks on the Ultramodern Discord and added soon after – fantastic service from USG!
Black Hills Games Delivers The News
No imagery from Black Hills Games this week, but instead some interesting updates. In the next few days, we’ll be getting a preview of the remastered version of the classic PMC set that was BHG’s first release. For administrative purposes, there will be a few changes to Patreon tiers and the upcoming releases but more exciting is the MyMiniFactory and the Discord. BHG will be launching a Tribe over there, ideal if you want to avoid Patreon’s issues, and a new Discord has been launched for more communication directly to BHG himself
Combat Octopus Shows Off CST Operator

Combat Octopus has been a little quiet due to having to rebuild the basic mesh used for his female figures. However, the light is at the end of the tunnel, and we’ve had a glimpse at the first female operator for the Cultural Support Team (CST), with lightweight gear. I’m always a big fan of the classic KAC M4 (with Eotech and rail covers) so I’m looking forward to more of this set. Next month’s release is going to be the CST unit of four figures, while the month after is going to bring some less specific female figures. I’m looking forward to seeing more!
Modern Miniatures Previews Arctic Releases
Finally, Modern Miniatures is all ready to take us to the Arctic/Antarctic for some sneaky shennigans. And to help set the scene, these previews show off some really exciting pieces that are pretty damn unique in the space. We’ve got a modular submarine! We’ve got a radar dome (that I’m sure will end up elsewhere ,seeing as most of us have played Modern Warfare 3) and skidos and snowcats. But that’s not all – there are going to be a few smaller pieces to fo with the set, ideal for those final touches for a research base. Full details will be up before the end of the month, and I’m sure we’ll get some awesome beauty shots.

If you want to support my work on gathering the news together, my Patreon is the best way to keep things going. With a minimal cost of £1 a month, every little helps to keep the news spigot flowing and to let me cover more of the suppliers out there.
Of course, if you are a REAL news fan, there is a brand new tier called, shockingly, News Fan. For £5 a month (or £1.25ish a news post), you can guarantee you’ll get your weekly dose of news updates.
If you think the news is only okay but would like to see me actually do something slightly more unique, you can join the ChargeReal Researchers. For only £7.50 a month, you’ll get to see first insight into the ongoing world of the ChargeReal, as I detail my fictional Ultramodern setting. Researchers will also get thanked in the final product as well as some input into the ongoing work such as suggesting ideas and providing feedback.
