So, how is everyone doing? Having a good week? Enjoyed last week’s return to blogging/wargaming talk?
I finished off last week with some comments that I am in the process of writing up a blog post about our industry favourite Spectre and their current fortunes. This apparently warranted an email and later that evening I received an email from the company asking about my intentions while writing about them. Last weekend I was house painting, so I took a couple of days before responding back with an answer, explaining the aim of the post and offering to work out a way to integrate Spectre’s comments into what was a post that was relatively early in development.
Well good news! Turns out Spectre has also been working on what promises to be a series of articles covering the history of their company. The first one went up on Thursday covering the history of Spectre Operations and is an interesting read (although their talk of removing points values from the V1 book is not quite right). What I think is interesting is the next part that should cover 2020 which was definitely a challenging year for the company.
What does this mean for my post? Well, it would have been nice to have been told about their plans beforehand during our back and forth, the release of their writings has blindsided me a little bit (although they have since apologised for not making me aware that they already had a similar article in the works). I’m going to be tweaking my article slightly – if Spectre is going to cover the history for me, it means I have a couple of thousands words that can be simply replaced with a link to their posts rather than rehashing the same information. I do still have plenty to say on the topic (especially around the Patreon they ran and the ongoing issues buying physical items from them), it just means they will be presented with a little less surrounding info. And a little less editing on the video version.
In the mean time though, I’ve got other projects to take a look at.
