Flytrap Factory has today shown off some visuals of their upcoming ultramodern figures they are releasing later this month via Patreon.
This first video shows off the first two elements that are coming out on July 15th for Black Sector. The Assault Element and Breacher Element are reasonably modern PMC operators (although not quite tip of the spear). The Assault Element is 5 figures with suppressed ARs, while the Breacher Element adds the specialists for the assault – two figures with MP7s and shotguns, two MP7 users with breaching gear and a Marksman to cover the final approach.
The figures shown are not 100% final, with a few tweaks on their way before they release (the Marksman needs to kit his rifle out with a few more items for night fighting and stop trying to break his NODs on the optic). But they do show the style of sculpting and figure that Anton is aiming for with his range, and the amount you’ll be getting if you sign up.
Speaking of which, all 10 figures will be included in the new Gunslinger Tier on the Flytrap Factory Patreon that will debut on July 15th. The plan is to deliver at least 10 figures a month, releasing on the 15th and coming in both supported and unsupported versions. Each release will be split between a basic element of 5-6 figures and a more varied pack with 4-5 alongside to extend it. The Gunslinger Tier is £11.50 a month, while bumping up to the supporter Tier at £17.00 gives you access to the other ranges that Flytrap cranks out every month, such as Warpod, Netherworlds Edge and Caveman Vs Wild. There is also a merchant tier for those interested in bringing these figures to the masses.
At this point, I get to write a fun disclosure!
I have been chatting back and forth with Anton about this range after he approached me earlier in the year while he was visiting the UK. This first release I’ve only been on the sidelines, providing more background info on the Ultramodern space and making suggestions around boring stuff like price points (all the joys of market research). However, I’ve also been starting to build up some references for future sets inspired by the discussions Anton and I have been having and the feel we want to go with for these. With the general theme, we think there are plenty of spaces that many other ranges haven’t hit, especially in 3d printing space. Once we’ve shown off the full Black Sector range (and maybe some OPFOR for them), then you might see my grubby little fingerprints on some of the ranges. I’d do more teases but I’m still finishing off my write ups.
As it stands, my partnership with Flytrap is purely non-monetary – there is no financial payments between myself and Flytrap, no commission on getting people to sign up. The only reward is getting an early view on the models as they are being developed, some input into specifics of them and getting the STL files to play around with once they are ready.
So, what does this mean for the blog? You’ll probably means you’ll see slightly less spicy articles going on (which means yes I am putting the Spectre article back to sleep) as I don’t think it’s quite right for me to be taking blows at people in competition with something I’m involved in. I do still intend to carry on championing the Ultramodern space and showing off upcoming work from everyone (Spectre, Empress, ESS, BPRE and more) as that’s still the passion.
I think I also need to stress that other posts (and this blog in general) will not simply become advertising for Gunslinger disguised as talking about other products. I hate that tactic as much as anyone and I’d much rather be showing off everything that excites me about the hobby.
