We’re halfway through September which means that things are a little calmer, a little more time for announcements and a little less running around like a mad person. Although that doesn’t mean we don’t have anything at all – read on for all the latest from this week’s News Stand.
Gunslinger Releases Release 3 and Prepares For The Next Range
This week was Gunslinger release week! As you can read in the release post, this month’s files are now up and available for the patrons at the Gunslinger tier. I’m really happy with what we’ve managed to release, especially as we bring the more characterful aspects to the range.
In addition, seeing as we’ve reached the end of the first quarter of releases we’re going to be doing a special end-of-season video, the first in the series of Gunslinger Signals. It’s aim is to recap what we’ve released, show off some behind-the-seasons and, more importantly, answer some questions from the Patrons. If you want to add some questions to the list (and more importantly get the figures in your hands), then you can find the post on the Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/flytrapfactory
The Solo Wargamer releases Haywire
I’ve been mentioning it for the last few weeks but The Solo Wargamer has released the Beta version of his solo play ruleset Haywire. Even better, it’s available for free over on Google Drive, along with all the cards and material you’ll need to get playing. From a quick once over, it’s a pretty great little set if you want to play solo, get figures on the board and very quickly generate a cinematic feeling game thanks to all various decks to throw a spanner into the works.
Solo has uploaded a video playthrough of the first game on his wonderful modern board, with operators taking on insurgent forces. It definitely helps to give you a taste for the game, and I’m looking forward to see what happens next with the ruleset.
Anvil Provides Your Stalkers with Machine Gun Support
In addition to this month’s release on the Anvil Digital Foundry (which we covered last week), they have also released a booster pack to give you some extra variety in terms of fire support. The Booster pack adds multiple Gorka suit bodies with both the PKM and PKP machine guns available to add to your teams. I really like the fact they have included both a regular belt box equipped version AND the scorpion ammo feed system (complete with covered feed chute). As always with Anvil releases, these sets are multi-shell, letting you toggle things such as thigh pouches and the PKM’s carry handle to add some extra variety.
Black Hills Deploys The South American Rebels
Black Hills has joined the “post news stories after ChargeBlog has done the weekly update” gang after dropping full details of their first South American release literally two hours after I released the post.
But that’s not all! The Ultramodern Discord has a channel for Black Hills and he has been discussing the next release also in South American bringing Cartel fighters. It’s going add some variety, bringing a set of figures covering both the street thugs with pistols and SMGs up to more experienced and better-equipped bad guys with assault rifles and armour.
Turnbase Miniatures
Finally, Turnbase has shown off some WIP previews for their next release which will be Police Officers. There are still some extra details coming (such as tasters and bodycams) but the set will include a mixture of assault rifles, shotguns and sidearms.
In addition, Turnbase has shown off a project they will be running over on My Mini Factory’s Frontiers platform. We haven’t had a huge amount of information on it.
If you want to support my work on gathering the news together, my Patreon is the best way to keep things going. With a minimal cost of £1 a month, every little helps to keep the news spigot flowing and to let me cover more of the suppliers out there.
Of course, if you are a REAL news fan, there is a brand new tier called, shockingly, News Fan. For £5 a month (or £1.25ish a news post), you can guarantee you’ll get your weekly dose of news updates.
If you think the news is only okay but would like to see me actually do some hobbying, then you can join the Board of Shadowy Figures for £7.50. This group will, before the start of every month, vote from a selection of mini-projects I have in the pipe and tell me which one to work on this month. I’ll then do my best to work on it and by the end of the month report back with my success or failure in a little post. If that sounds exciting, it’s available for you!
