A quieter one this week (I assume last week’s US holiday and UK general election/England football wins are distracting everyone) but good news – there are still enough updates to deliver a News Stand and fill the top image (always the most important part!) Read on for details from Spectre, BobMack3d, Combat Octopus and Modern Miniatures.
As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week. If you like these roundups and find them useful, why not chip in on the Patreon?
Spectre Miniatures Releases The Minuteman

No major releases from Spectre Miniatures this week (we’re still digging from the last set) but for the 4th of July holiday we did get a special model. Combining the finest in modern frontier fighting with the style of the old, the Minuteman special figures is available until midnight tonight at the time of writing so if you want him for your tabletop (in either 3D printed or STL) you only have a limited time to get hold of him.
Although I’m not sure I can ever see me using him on the tabletop, I think this guy is a cool model and could be a fun painting project (or a nasty surprise in your AWI army if you’re wanting to be funny). The coat over the Gen 3 Trousers with modern load-bearing gear on top is a nice blend of the two era’s while the MRAD and it’s thermal scope is just showing off a toy we will (hopefully) see equipping other figures coming soon. I do think that, after having some hands-on with the Breacher models that Steve sculpted for BSS, he definitely has a lot of fun making the individual figures that really comes across in the end product.
BobMack3d Previews T-55(ish) and Crew

BobMack3d is back again showing us yet more previews for the upcoming World Revolution Kickstarter. This week, we got a look at another vehicle coming to the North Vietnamese add-on, the Type-59 tank. Taking the T-55 as the starting point, the Type-59 included in the addon will include some NVA-specific stowage including two different turrets that will be shown off when the Kickstarter launches.

The other add-on coming as part of the World Revolution Kickstarter is going to be some vehicle crew suitable for the Soviet forces. Sculpted by Flank March Miniatures (and perfect to match their upcoming Motostrelki), this set gives you several tank commanders (including one signalling) as well as a dismounted crewman when things go wrong.
The World Revolution Kickstarter will be launching on the 19th of July but you can sign up now to be alerted as soon as it goes live.
Combat Octopus Deploys The Marksmen and Sharpshooters

Being released literally a few hours before I release this post, Combat Octopus has released his latest set – Marksmen and Sharpshooters. Designed to give you a set of figures to extend your force’s reach, this set includes four poses – one spotter kneeling and ready to guide the rest of his team onto the target, as well as shooters in the prone, sitting or standing positions. I really like the fact there are multiple options for each pose, letting you pick from both Eastern (rolling the SVDS or the ultramodern SVCh-54) or Western (with AR-15 and SCAR-H) weapon selections. Additionally, the standing pose can be assembled as either shooting from a tripod or from the shoulder, ideal for either the weapon team role or as another shooter ready to skirmish.

As well as the weapon choices, the set comes with a few additional options. As always, each figure is modular (although many are less than usual due to the nature of the poses used) but even the non-modular figures give you the chance to choose which head you want (with 8 options included in the Sergeant set). If you’re a fan of CO’s molle options, this set includes some additional pouches – a new radio pouch, individual bungee pouches for the different weapons included and even some loose weapons for your spotter.
These sets are out now on the Combat Octopus Patreon, while next month’s release will add a few more Marksman-related options.
Last week we also had a new State of the Union post from Combat Octopus for his birthday. This post is exclusive for Patrons so I won’t copy it out here. What I would say is that it does point towards some tweaks to how Combat Octopus works, including loyalty rewards and the potential for other projects away from the Patreon. Patrons should definitely give it a read.
Modern Miniatures Previews The DAGOR

Finally for this week, hot off releasing the MAT-V, Modern Miniatures is already showing off a preview for next month’s release. The DAGOR is one of a variety of lightweight vehicles designed for high-speed offroad mobility while still providing a higher carrying capacity than the smaller MRZR and including a ring mount designed for the firepower you’d usually see on the Humvee – there is a reason why the US Army is investigating it for use in the Cavalry Scout platoons. And next month, we’re getting a Modern Miniatures version designed for resing 3D printing. As you can see, this WIP version is already looking pretty good.

And in classic Modern Miniatures fashion, he has already printed the first test model (complete with the MK19 he is TEASING us with at this point). The end result is going to come with a pack of add-on parts to help customise it, such as winches, spare wheel and ammo holders, side skirts and more. The figure pledge for this month will also support this set including a Driver, Co-driver and passengers. As always, the aim will be for this set to be released at the start of next month, all ready for some high-speed assaults.
Desk-Ops Offering 20% Gunslinger POD Through July

As shared last week, friend of the site Desk-Ops is offering 20% off Gunslinger 2030 packs. However, this offer will only last until the end of July as the agreement allowing him to sell them ends when the clock strikes midnight. These sets give you a mix of forces, be it the Western Black Sector operators, the rough and tumble Kojoti mercenaries and multiple character sets. So if you’re interested in getting some of these guys printed for you, now is the best chance to get your hands on them.

If you want to support my work on gathering the news together, my Patreon is the best way to keep things going. With a minimal cost of £1 a month, every little helps to keep the news spigot flowing and to let me cover more of the suppliers out there.
Of course, if you are a REAL news fan, there is a brand new tier called, shockingly, News Fan. For £5 a month (or £1.25ish a news post), you can guarantee you’ll get your weekly dose of news updates.
If you think the news is only okay but would like to see me actually do something slightly more unique, you can join the ChargeReal Researchers. For only £7.50 a month, you’ll get to see first insight into the ongoing world of the ChargeReal, as I detail my fictional Ultramodern setting. Researchers will also get thanked in the final product as well as some input into the ongoing work such as suggesting ideas and providing feedback.
