It’s the middle of the month so we’re getting a pile of new previews. However, there are some exciting things on the horizon, so let’s jump in!
As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week. If you like these roundups and find them useful, why not chip in on the Patreon?
Spectre Miniatures Shows Off The Type X and Imminent Releases
Spectre Miniatures has continued its ride with the Unmanned Ground Vehicle previews. While last week we got the THeMIS UGV, this week we got its bigger and nastier brother, the Type X. Looking more like a light tank, this UGV comes with a turret mounting an Autocannon, a remote weapon station and a pair of loitering munitions stored under armour.
Of course, the big question is when are we getting our hands on these vehicles? Well good news, Spectre also did an Instagram Q&A on Monday (literally as I was preparing this post) and we got some details! This week’s release will be the Type-X, the updated Agent Crisis Response team and some new Local Forces that have been previewed previously. There are also a few other things mentioned that could be of interest that I’ve posted above, but one I missed is that the Insurgent PMC figures will be coming to the STL releases soon. I guess it’s time to get your wallets ready for the end of the week!
Austin Miniatures Preparing Modular US Infantry
Austin Miniatures has been showing off some interesting previews on their Instagram as they seem to be winding up for an upcoming Kickstarter. These guys have released some modular troops previously over on Gumroad (as well as a selection of other projects) and this new Modular US Infantry set looks like it’s expanding that concept. As you can see above, the set includes the new NGSW project items, such as the SIG XM7 and XM250 LMG.
However, that’s not all, looking at some of the other preview items, we’re not just getting the Next Gen gear. These other images show off a selection of items, such as M320 grenade launchers, M27 and HK417 style rifles and the M18 pistol. Based on the parts we’ve seen so far, these items may mix and match with previous Austin Miniatures offerings, so it is definitely worth keeping an eye on the Instagram for further news.
BobMack3d Shows Off Stragglers for World Revolution
Bobmack3d, who will not let me stop writing the words World Revolution, has been showing off some of the final stretch goals. The BTR-50PU, the command variant, is looking great. The other preview from the last week is the early model T-72 Ural. This is still WIP, but it’s going to be cool to have one of the original variants that ended up serving in Iraq among other warzones. Ideal for a less well equipped force while still being a major threat to anyone not packing an AT weapon. These two stretch goals will be sent out along with the rest of World Revolution in the next few weeks (once Kickstarter hands over the money).
Black Powder Red Earth Delivers A Q&A With The Creator
Jon Chang, one of the minds behind Black Powder Red Earth, has taken some time out from the various projects he’s involved in to do an interview with TheAlmightyLoli, the same YouTuber that did a review on the series a few weeks back. It’s a three-hour video, so great to put on while painting but you’ll soon find that John’s packed full of interesting stories that will make it fly by. Well worth giving it a watch, especially if you want to understand what’s going on behind the scenes.
Modern Miniatures Previews A Trip To Tarkov
Modern Miniatures has been working in the lab on this month’s theme. After the vehicles of the last few month, we’re taking a trip back to the terrain land. In particular, as I can see based on Discord activity, MM has been inspired by a few raids in the Russian environs of Tarkov. Fans of the game will recognise the sheds that dot the landscape (especially around the lumberyard) while the two styles of concrete walls will make it easy to setup your industrial sectors. I’ll be interested to see what else is included in this pack, but I can sense my FDM printer already warming up.
Turnbase Miniatures Shows Off PMCs and The Baba Yaga
Finally, Turnbase Miniatures has shown off this month’s release, as well a sneak peek of what is coming in September. The August Tier 2 release is Wraith Company, a five-man team utilising some of the more unusual tools in the Toybox. The set includes a marksman, a pair armed with battle rifles and a grenadier with the VHS-2 rifle, finished off by a Drone operator wearing FPV goggles and carrying a backpack full of drones (as well as one deployed). These guys look ready, so stand by for a release soon (alongside a Tier 3 item for those backing at the higher level.
We have also had an early preview of what’s coming in September. With the high-end Glock, high-end suits and tactical-looking poses, I think it’s safe to say that Patreons will be getting some figures inspired by the Baba Yaga himself. Stand by for more info coming soon.
