Advent is here, the weather closing in and so it is almost time for Christmas also known as the time wargames get more toys than usual and more time to play with them!. In fact, this post was a late one due to having to go collect my Advent Calendar but luckily there are plenty of good updates inside this week, with previews and the usual new releases that come when the month kicks off.
As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week. If you like these roundups and find them useful, why not chip in on the Patreon?
Spectre Miniatures Sends Frontlines To The Printers
First up this week, Spectre Miniatures has announced that the first expansion to Spectre Operations, Frontlines, has gone to print. This expansion is designed to add a whole pile of new rules, including new actions and systems designed to expand the core and allow a wider variety of scenarios to be played. It also includes a massively expanded vehicle rules set, with a pile of new profiles for a selection of specific vehicles.
The bigger news is that the PDF has been sent out to all pre-order customers. I’ve so far only managed to take a quick glance over it (including those 20 pages of vehicle profiles) but it’s definitely a sizable addition to the basic game, with plenty of new systems to play around with. I can also see plenty of things in it that people have been asking for, so it should be a valuable addition for fans of Spectre Operations V3.
Exciting News About Near Present, The Next Game from Echelon
Echelon, makers of Black Powder Red Earth, have a new announcement about their upcoming series Near Present. Set in a near future inspired by the trends we’re seeing in the world today, the series has now moved into Pre-Production. Full production will begin in 2025 and is going to provide both graphic novels and (more exciting for us) a brand-new miniatures game. Stand by for more information as it’s released.
Black Hills Games Releases Drone Operators
Black Hills Games has released its set for November bringing a set of drone operators to your collection. With six new figures for the British, German, French and American forces (as well as two drones for them to deploy), these figures provide the ability to get the latest and greatest force multiplier. This set is already available on the Gumroad, while Patreon backers during November should have received their links via PM.
Combat Octopus Continues Previews For More Criminals
Combat Octopus has continued the previews for the upcoming part 2 of US Inmates and Rioters. These two figures, totting M4s and wearing the finest in prison fashion, are showing some of the poses coming with the next release, perfectly nailing the untrained look that CO has been going for with these sets, even down to the M4 not quite in his shoulder. As always with CO release, you can expect plenty of additional weapons for each pose, as well as the usual modular aspects that should make this set perfect for building up some more irregular forces. These figures should be out early in December, although with only a slight delay from the usual release date.
Goggles Miniatures Previews December Releases
Goggles Miniatures has announced good news for fans of wheeled APCs with this teaser image. December’s releases will include the VAB, including the version shown above with the 20mm cannon. You can probably expect to see other variants soon, as Goggles Guy prepares for release early in the month.
Modern Miniatures Shows Off Trucks and Bikers for December
Modern Miniatures has continued his impeccable release schedule, firing out this month’s releases at the start of the month and into his Patron’s hands. This month, both terrain and miniatures tiers are getting some excellent new additions.
For the terrain side, the MAN KAT 1 7T truck brings in a very modern-looking military truck, the squared-off cab highly distinctive among the forces of British and German armies. The six-by-six truck also includes a canvas cover and has been setup to be printable even on smaller form factor printers.
For the miniatures side, fans of Biker gangs will have a brand new set to add to their collection. This pack includes 5 bodies (including a variety of weapons such as the Street Sweeper and Mac 10) and a massive 11 heads, perfect to assemble your band of outlaw bikers. There is even a modular hand option for the ganger gripping his belt.
Turnbase Miniatures Previews Exo-Suits
Finally, Turnbase Miniatures has shown off the previews for November’s release. As previously shown, this month is all about exosuits and future warfare. Tier 2 will get you a team of exosuited figures similar to the figure on the left (including the Evolys and Augmented Reality visuals) while Tier 3 is some heavy drone support (with some flying and land options in addition to the items shown). December seems to be outside of this blog’s focus, so click through if you want to take a look at them.
