Adventures in Wargaming

The week has ticked over, so it’s time to cover all the latest in the world of Ultramodern Wargaming. New releases from Spectre, previews from Combat Octopus and many others, and even a sign of life from Haywire. Read on for more!
This month saw the launch of a brand new faction in the Gunslinger world, stepping away from the ordered and professional operators of Black Sector’s Global Interdiction Group and heading in a slightly more ragged direction. Kojoti is a range that both Anton and myself got really excited about when we first came up with the idea (and then Dan joined in when he got the first model to support), and after seeing the eventual result, it’s once again a release we’re proud to put out there. And speaking of being proud, I need to start by talking about the…
Before I persuaded my Regular Opponents to play some BPRE 28mm (covered here), we spent most of the afternoon giving our usual WW2 game, Chain of Command, another play. In this case I found myself in the Gamesmaster role as the Creative and Dastardly got to work. It’s a role I am increasingly finding myself in, enjoying keeping an eye on the rules, arbitrating any disagrements and occasionally passing over advice. I decided to kick off my Games Mastering before I even got to the Dastardly Regular Opponent’s house. Chain of Command has a very good system for building your…
It’s Sunday again so time for another News Stand. This week is a right old mix, from new factions in BPRE to previews of the upcoming Patreon releases to some Combat Octopus bits ready for your printer today. Oh, and a friend of mine is doing some stuff so legally I have to share his work as it looks pretty awesome (also it stops him from pulling university pictures of me from his blackmail folder.) As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week.…
It’s a Gunslinger release week, so I’ve been rushed off my feet a touch. However, this hasn’t stopped the rest of the industry from deciding that this is the time to show off plenty of stuff. So here we are with this week’s News Stand! Kojoti Joins The World of Gunslinger as Phase 2 Kicks Off You’ll excuse me for tooting my horn but this week is the first release of Phase 2 of Gunslinger, bringing Kojoti to your tabletop. Full details are in the release post but these 10 figures are some of the best we’ve released so far…
I am pleased to announce the fourth release of the new Gunslinger range from Flytrap Digital is available now, for those backing the Patron at the appropriate levels. This release kicks off Phase 2, bringing the first two packs of this new faction, the mysterious group known as Kojoti. Disclosure time! This post is part of my work with Gunslinger. As one of the four people who run that project, I’ve played a pretty major part in the creation of these figures, doing the initial spec and pack layouts through to delivering the Gunslinger social media posts over on Facebook…
(Little programming note – sorry if you received some emails this morning re-releasing the board of Shadowy figures post. Basically, there is an issue that is causing a featured image to display improperly and I’ve been trying to fix it. Sadly Jetpack by WordPress kind of sucks so it hammered out a few new post emails it shouldn’t have. Anyway, back to the content.) BPRE 28mm – it’s a game I like a lot (to put it mildly). One of the main advantages of BPRE is that the games don’t take a year to play, meaning that you can quite…
To celebrate the end of the first phase of Gunslinger, I sat down with Anton and Dan to talk through the Black Sector releases, talk about some behind the scenes and answer a few questions. It’s a big long boy, so you’ll definitely want to grab a drink or put it on in the background as we talk about all things operator, doggles and more! You can find the video embedded below or on Youtube by clicking here!
It’s been a busy week elsewhere on the site so it took me a while to put the newsfeed together. Of course, it may have also been delayed by getting a certain first peek as well… Gunslinger Releases Phase 1 To The General Public And Previews Big news from Gunslinger this week – we have now released the first phase as both STLs (on My MiniFactory) and Print on Demand (thanks to our partner Desk-Ops). These sets are available right now and we’re running offers on each – Desk-Ops includes an introductory discount while using the code “20SPLENTY” on My…
