Spectre Miniatures Releases Patreon Sets, Launches Tactical Force Builder

Spectre Miniatures has released this month’s figures to the patrons. After a slight delay due to the heatwaves that hit the UK and slowed sculpting work, the Criminal Clowns, State Trooper and UGV have been released, alongside the Bumerang Wheeled Combat Vehicle (in its IFV variant) for the Mechanised Infantry tier. The intention is that the two other sets intended for this month (the High Speed SWAT and VICE squad) should be coming over the next few days.

Good news for those of you playing Spectre Operations – a beta force builder has been launched. Developed by a developer called Code Ghost and supporting both the core game and the additions from Frontlines, the beta site currently supports the two force builders from the main book, letting you assemble either an Insurgent Force or an organised Task Force. As well as list building, the website also includes a Game Mode similar to New Recruit, giving you easy reference to the elements you’ve added, the core stats and a list of their equipment. The current website is available now, with all feedback to be sent to Spectre via email to help with development.

Austin Miniatures Launches Red Jungle Kickstarter

After much preparation over the last few months, Austin Miniatures has launched the Red Jungle Kickstarter. This set is intended to bring to market plastic figures, specifically the MACV SOG – we have previously seen these figures released as 3D printed STLs, along with other sets intended to fill the Jungles of South East Asia with horrifying nightmares such as Werewolves, Monsters beyond human understanding and Soviet Spetsnaz. You can get the plastic kits alongside these STLs, with some of the stretch goals expanding out the plastic range to include the Soviet VDV in plastic.

However, there are plenty of other pieces to pick up – with a literal pile of tiers covering both physical and digital releases and a load of stretch goals (adding in even more US and Australian Special Forces). If you’re interested in picking them up, it’s well worth looking at the campaign. One thing to note is that this Kickstarter doesn’t include the Red Jungle rulebook – this will be coming later from Battle Tribe.

BobMack3D Announces Division Mécanisée with the AMX-30B2

It’s that time again – BobMack3D is kicking off a brand new project, and this week we see our first vehicle. And yep, the project is for the French. Division Mécanisée will bring French vehicles from the 1980s to the tabletop, starting off with the AMX-30B. This was the main battle tank of the French during the 1980s and up into the 1990s, finally seeing action when the French engaged the Iraqi Army in the first Gulf War. The AMX-30 had a pile of variants (crossing fingers we see the BRENUS slathered in ERA) and other vehicles using the chassis, and modernised versions are still in use today, including by Saudi Arabia in their conflict against the Houthis.

This is going to be a very handy set for the Ultramodern games – there are a lot of vehicles from this time period that ended up being used all over the world, especially among the smaller nations using APCs. Flank March Miniatures Releases Wave 2, Drops Bonus DSHK

Flank March Miniatures is back from his holiday and, when not staring on an edition of Wargames Soldiers & Strategy, has already sent out Wave 2 of the East Germans to backers. These were previewed over the last few weeks (including AT3 Sagger teams, Anti-Tank grenades and a pile of other toys. However, Steffan at Flank March has been starting work on Wave 3 and, as part of it, has added a new item. It seems that there has been a ghost hidden in the archives, a reference to the KdA militia using a “12.7mm Machine Gun” but with little other reference to what exact weapon this refers to – the Soviet Bloc had two 12.7 HMGs (the classic DShK and the NSV), and there was potential for either of them to appear in the East German arsenal. However, Flank March has managed to find pictorial evidence of KdA militia using the DShK on a wheeled platform and has sculpted them up, giving a new model that will be included in Wave 3 for free for all backers when they are released later this year.

Pegasus Miniatures Details More About “Contact, Wait Out!”

No updates on figures this week, but Pegasus Miniatures did have some more updates on their ruleset. Contact, Wait Out is going to be a very small number of figures, with 1 to 6 figures per side and a recommendation for multiple players per team, especially if you can have each figure controlled by a separate player. This is also a ruleset where detail will be king – stance, speed and ammo are all important, and it’s very easy to be hit and dropped. As much as this might sound overwhelming, the ruleset is an adaptation of Warwick Kinrade’s “Normandy Firefight”, which I have heard very positive things about.

Pegasus Miniatures are still waiting to launch once all the behind-the-scenes stuff is done, so expect more updates soon.

Haywire Modern AI Previewed On Modiphus Blog

Modiphus have continued their previews of Haywire Modern, with this week’s post covering how the enemies and AI systems work. Martin goes in depth on the various factions, how the threat tokens work and the various enemy classes. If you haven’t played the system before, this is a good entry point to get all the details and understand how the system works. The next post will cover the changes in the new edition, good if you already have all the cards printed from the older version.

Warfront Studios Extends Pre-Order Discount For US Infantry After Delay

Warfront Studios has extended the pre-order period for its upcoming US Infantry release. After the release was slightly delayed due to production timeline changes, the set will now ship in September, with the pre-order slot (and its discount) extended through the 15th of August. Warfront hasn’t been idle since sending off the US Infantry to the production team, as you can see in their latest Weekly Update – their PMC kit has been submitted to Archon Studio to begin work on the sprue, research is continuing on the British range, while a range of resin sets have been detailed to expand all three of the currently planned plastic ranges. Black Hills Games Previews NY Homeland Set

Black Hills Games has previewed the July release, providing a set of figures for a New York under threat. The set includes six figures: two with Kriss Vectors (male and female), two with HK416 (male and female), a male Marksman with an SR25 DMR, and a male operator with a riot shield. The set has been slightly delayed for another few days. However, there is talk of an additional set coming in August for subscribers for July and August. There are also some positive changes to the Patreon coming, with more details coming soon.

Modern Miniatures Shows Off August Releases

It’s the end of the month, which means Modern Miniatures has a set of releases all ready to go live when the month ticks over. They have all been previewed, but lets quickly update.

For the figures, you’re getting a set of generic AR-15-equipped PMC operators. These figures include a variety of more specialist equipment (such as magnified optics, breaching tools and grenade launchers). All the figures have separate heads (allowing for some modularity) and are provided to Patrons at the Figures level, both supported and unsupported.

At the terrain tier, August is all about vehicles in states of disrepair. In addition to the previously previewed muscle car and van, the shot-up technical is a great addition to fill out your tabletop. Both the van and muscle car are accompanied by various sets of wheel options, including (amusingly) a set of wheels on bricks which are ideal for really showing a tabletop is in the bad part of town.

Meanwhile, over on MyMiniFactory, this month’s setup includes the previously shown shooting range pack and a very nice-looking GMC van, ideal for your own A-Team adventures.

All of these sets will be released on August 1st, with Modern Miniatures continuing a streak of releasing on time. I can see all these sets would be very handy for scene setting and most games, with the shot-up technical a strong highlight. War Daddy Studios Preparing New Ukrainian Figures For Release

Finally, WarDaddy Studios is hard at work on a new set of Ukrainian troops with an updated base mannequin and improved poses. With the new releases coming at the start of August, this will see two new 15mm Ukrainian Rifle squads and a matching set of 10mm figures (this release also includes a heavy Sci-Fi battle tank complete with a set of commanders). However, that’s not all!

Having been chatting to WarDaddy Studios, the next few months will also be very interesting. The Ukrainians and Russians are getting upgraded, but then we’ll be seeing a core set of new Insurgents to replace the sets currently available, before expanding into region-specific packs around various theatres around the world. After that, we’ll be seeing a set of 2003-era US Forces in Iraq, ideal to match with the figures being released alongside Eleven Bravo. Overall it’s a good time to be interested in 15mm ultramodern wargaming – maybe I should take a look at that…
