Adventures in Wargaming

You can tell it’s summer as this week’s post is missing many of the big names (who I assume are taking a well-needed break). However, there are still plenty of exciting things to talk about, with releases, previews and more! Read on for all the details!
An exclusive announcement from Urban Scatter Gaming, the latest release from Combat Octopus and more – never a dull moment in this week’s edition of The News Stand!
We’re two months into 2025, so I should probably talk about what I’ve been up to huh? You may have seen my PAINT-REPs so far, covering two sets of figures from Spectre. I was hoping to have more than three figures painted so far but alas I’ve been suffering the malaise. Plenty of models on the desk but the excitement to actually apply brush to figure is lacking a little bit. I’m hoping that will be corrected soon, so I can get back to painting up everything I’m planning. Okay, just going to very quickly sidestep away from the tiny…
In my last Combat Geometry post, I mentioned about adding a command group to my second Warrior formation. On paper, this is a good idea, giving the various bonus to combat resolution and striking power. The problem is that I don’t have a second Warriors of Chaos command group. This gives me a champion (you can probably guess who) and a sorcerer who could be conscripted into counting as a Musician (something you can…
The month begins and that means it’s time for a pile of new updates. New releases from Spectre, previews from Echo Dark, a new project from Modern Minis and much, much more!
The next Old World games day is fast approaching on the Ides of March. I’ve been attempting to get some figures painted up for it (and avoiding the Knights for as long as possible). However, new events mean a chance to build my list further. After my last game in January, I expressed some concern about my lack of magical defence, although in retrospect that might be because that particular list was incredibly magical focused. The bigger problem (and one I had last year as well) was that the marauders weren’t around in big enough numbers and were not fast…
We’re reaching the end of the month, but that doesn’t mean the updates are stopping on this week’s edition of The News Stand. Urban Scatter Gaming has released a metric ton of new items for your MENA table, we have a trio of previews from Spectre and much, much more below!
This week on The News Stand, we have a pretty good selection for landing in the middle of the month. From terrain to vehicles to figures and more, Ultramodern Gaming feels to be constantly pushing forward in this edition of The News Stand
