    The News Stand: 24/07/2026

Summer is here, and so the cup doesn’t quite floweth over as everyone takes time out. However, there are still some great previews for all things Ultramodern this week, so read on for more!

    The News Stand: 12/11/2023

This week, in its new slot of Monday lunchtime (weekends are getting increasingly busy), The News Stand is taking a look at a WHOLE load of Spectre as well as a few other things that came in. Look, there is a lot for Spectre and I really shouldn’t have missed out on the stuff from last week because it’s a busy time for them! As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week. If you like these roundups and find them useful, why not…

It’s the start of the month so time for release week! Asymmetric Warfare is out, InCountry has a cool new release (and is a year old) and we also have a whole host of new Patreons and campaigns kicking off. Never a dull moment! As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week. If you like these roundups and find them useful, why not chip in on the Patreon? Big news from Gunslinger is that we have a new project coming very soon! Alongside…

The Board Of Shadowy Figures: End of Month 1

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Board of Shadowy Figures, we have reached the end of the first month of the project and it’s time for my report on the progress. For anyone unaware, The Board of Shadow Figures is a patreon tier for the ChargeBlog Patreon, letting you decide what project I should work on next. To prevent you all from sending me off down a deep dark rabbit hole, I provide the options and the Board picks which one exactly. Then I get to write an article, show off the hobby and hopefully get some more stuff done! Good…

SITREP – Asymmetric Warfare/Spectre Operations Explained

Good news! Asymmetric Warfare has been released as PDF, with version 1.1 on DriveThru RPG now. I received my copy from the Author while I was having a day off (actually getting the email while strolling around the Yorkshire Air Museum), and although I’ve only managed to have a skim through it, it does feel a touch like sitting back in a familiar comfy chair (except someone made the chair slightly less squeaky and added a bipod). The problem is that this has stirred up the nest once again about the confusion between Asymmetric Warfare and Spectre Operations – the…

    The News Stand: 28/10/2023

This week, not so much news from the usual big players that pop up in this article (at least, not news that I can share publically) but we have some exciting announcements to cover. New updates on Sangin V2, more Shanty town buildings and a new Patreon to sign up for? Read on for more! As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week. Gunslinger – Deep Dive on… Release 4 – Kojoti Team Chernabog – Meco Rifle Team and Assault Team

This month saw the launch of a brand new faction in the Gunslinger world, stepping away from the ordered and professional operators of Black Sector’s Global Interdiction Group and heading in a slightly more ragged direction. Kojoti is a range that both Anton and myself got really excited about when we first came up with the idea (and then Dan joined in when he got the first model to support), and after seeing the eventual result, it’s once again a release we’re proud to put out there. And speaking of being proud, I need to start by talking about the…

SITREP: Back To The Desert with The Regular Opponents

Before I persuaded my Regular Opponents to play some BPRE 28mm (covered here), we spent most of the afternoon giving our usual WW2 game, Chain of Command, another play. In this case I found myself in the Gamesmaster role as the Creative and Dastardly got to work. It’s a role I am increasingly finding myself in, enjoying keeping an eye on the rules, arbitrating any disagrements and occasionally passing over advice. I decided to kick off my Games Mastering before I even got to the Dastardly Regular Opponent’s house. Chain of Command has a very good system for building your…

    The News Stand: 22/10/2023

It’s Sunday again so time for another News Stand. This week is a right old mix, from new factions in BPRE to previews of the upcoming Patreon releases to some Combat Octopus bits ready for your printer today. Oh, and a friend of mine is doing some stuff so legally I have to share his work as it looks pretty awesome (also it stops him from pulling university pictures of me from his blackmail folder.) As always, thanks to the News Fans and other patrons over on the ChargeBlog patreon for buying my time to make this wrap-up each week.…
