    The News Stand: 24/07/2026

Summer is here, and so the cup doesn’t quite floweth over as everyone takes time out. However, there are still some great previews for all things Ultramodern this week, so read on for more!

SITREP – Heavy Metal and a Fresh Coat of Paint

And there we are – after a total of 35 hours of printing I have a completed Atlay Tank. The massive time was due to a print error on my first print, a chunk missing from one side of the turret that could be possibly fixed with putty. Now I have it in hand, I’ll freely admit I’ve been playing with it for most of the day, making crunchy tank noises and trying to decide just what the Royal Bazi Army troops that are escorting it will actually look like. I’ve still got some clean up to do on it.…

    SITREP – That’s a Big Tank

I’ve been busy with some work things and writing up some Necromunda stuff (especially as I’m playing more this weekend). But, after a few chats (as well as thinking about possible future plans) I decided it was time to do some more experimenting with the 3d printer. My Mars Pro has a printing volume of 120x68x155mm which is plenty big enough for printing people. On the other hand, 28mm vehicles in my preferred scale (1:50) are pretty chunky, especially once you go above light vehicles. This can really limit your options for printing – half the fun of modern warfare…

  • SITREP – Necromunda Day!

    SITREP – Necromunda Day!

Oh boy a full on day of Necromunda. Managed to shuffle some plans around so ended up against the Delaque for two different games. But first, I got my Hired guns painted up – and just in time! They came in very handy during the game day. I didn’t manage to finish off the civilians we’d need, but luckily they mostly blended into the board. I’ll be writing more details on the games when I do the full writeup, but the pairing of a loot heavy big game in the evening and a fun shootout lead to a great progression…

    SITREP – Painted Hive Scum

First three mostly done (aside from the base detail), three more well on the way. Should have enough time before game on tomorrow to finish off them and get the civilians and loot markers painted up. Today was a bit of a shitty one in terms of headspace and sleep, so actually getting some figures finished off definitely helped counter that!

  • SITREP – New WIPs and New Rules

SITREP – New WIPs and New Rules

With another callout post in the campaign chat, it looks like the Delaque boys and my Enforcers are going to have a fight on Saturday. This time however, I’m going to be ready for them. Started work on my Regulators (a set of hired guns that are basically armed locals ready to be contracted out). I’m going with the old west/industrial look to them, leather dusters and wooden guns (except for Welder man). I’m starting all of them with the same base colour for the coats, but will then add other layers over the top, aiming that they look different…

SITREP – Games and More Civilians

Tonight’s game went really well! I introduced The Prince of Death, a godling of massive power, to the fantasy campaign. It played out really nicely too, playing back through the cave and dungeon we explore in the last two games as they began to collapse around them, dodging the rockfall and appearances of the unkillable handsome bastard. I also printed off three more characters for Necromunda. Another Spacer to be a civilian, a trench fighter flamer I’ll be painting up as… Sanitation and an Ogryn in a space suit. What’s not to like? All three are from Anvil 3D printing,…

SITREP – All Prep, All the Time

Oh boy, hobby time today was a whole bunch of prep work. Main one was sorting out my scenario for tomorrow (Big Bad fight time!) which is going to be something exciting. As this is a main character, he is going to be an absolute nightmare in combat – hopefully he can mince his way through enough of the bad guys left in the room while the heroes retreat. The second part was creating more figures for some Necromunda times. We’re onto week 2 of the campaign so some events have kicked off meaning I need some poor citizens of…

  • SITREP – ??? Pt3

    SITREP – ??? Pt3

Well I did it! He’s all painted up. Check below the jump for more details. The Big Bad guys is painted! I just need to do the basing and then I think he’s done. Will say, I actually painted him in a more traditional style (rather than my usual “basecoat, wash, done”) so putting several layers on the flesh and robes was something new. I’m actually really happy with the final effect – he has the looks of a character about to deliver a villainous monologue with a smirk before destroying the party. I’m planning for him to be a…
