  • SITREP: Bazi Counter-Espionage Team

    SITREP: Bazi Counter-Espionage Team

Another set of models finished, another set I’m really excited to write about! These guys are 3d printed figures made using two of Combat Octopus’s kits – the bodies are from the Eastern European Criminal set with some heads from the MENA Civilians release. After printing on the Elegoo Saturn at 0.03mm, I ended up with a nice set of modular pieces. The reason for this combo was wanting to make some figures suitable for Bazi Counter-Espionage teams. Seeing as we’re getting into campaign season (and reading up on some CIA/JSOC teams in the War on Terror), I’m planning for…

  • SITREP: Aftermath Team

    SITREP: Aftermath Team

After having had them sat in the “to be painted” trays for a while, I finally pulled out the Aftermath team from Spectre. I will admit, this is a team that I bought, looked at and went “What a nice team, no idea what I’ll do with them”. However, I felt in the mood for something simple to paint so I grabbed the guys from the top of the tray and…. remembered that the end of the RPG gunner’s AK had been snapped off. Luckily, I had a TBM AK74SU I could cannibalise and patch him up. Painting wise, most…

  • March 2022 Update

    March 2022 Update

Oh boy, that time again. So you may have noticed March was a little bit quiet. Going to admit, I’m not having the easiest time at the moment in the old head box – finding it really hard to just sit down and focus on things in general so hobby stuff falls slightly down priority when trying to get out of bed is a pain in the ass. This might explain the shotgun blast approach to the hobby this month, lots of iron dropped into the fire but not a huge amount of finished stuff (blog posts, images or games).…

  • For Coin, For Contract – Halfling Paymaster

For Coin, For Contract – Halfling Paymaster

Every servant of the Empress has their role. Mine just happens to involve balancing transactions and making sure that mercenaries like yourself fulfil their obligations. And while yes, my usefulness against a horde of orcs or the Northmen may be limited, I do like to think it works better when I am in charge of the coin purse for an expedition, rather than someone more used to using a sword rather than a pen. The right tool for the right job. Now hand me the pouch of salt and spices from my bag – I don’t believe this so-called cook…

  • Bring In The Armoured Car!

    Bring In The Armoured Car!

When the forces of the Emir of Bazistan is deployed onto the streets, they are often accompanied by wheeled armour cars armed with heavy machine guns. Bought for cheap from the Cynericians next door when they replaced them with the shiny new model, these things are more effective at telling the protestors to go home than a man with a chest full of gold and a bullhorn. In wartime, the vehicle is most likely to be seen on fire by the side of the road thanks to it’s paper thin armour but the rear hatch’s pintle mount can be fitted…

  • SITREP – Going Into The Archives

SITREP – Going Into The Archives

A long time ago, I picked up a few of the X-Commandos from Crooked Dice. These figures are some great 1970’s Dr Who style government goons that pop up to shoot the aliens and die in the background. This wouldn’t usually be my thing, but like anyone with a passing interest in the SAS, Crooked Dice also sold some heads in balaclavas and gas masks. They are a really neat design and so one day I ordered the trio of MP5 wielders. And then I didn’t paint them. Over the years I’ve tried to clear them off my books, thinking…

  • February 2022 Update

    February 2022 Update

Another month gone, the shortest of them all for 2022. This month was definitely a bit on the slow side – I spent a lot of it struggling to actually sleep at night and so the hobby time turned into the “oh god I need to nap or else I’ll go mad” time. However, I still got a few things done. So lets go over them! COLLECTING Vapa at the start of the month saw me expanding the collection (just a little bit) as I mentioned in the SITREP. Two more Comets (to bring me up to a platoon for…

  • SITREP – Captain London, Special Scientific Reconnaissance

SITREP – Captain London, Special Scientific Reconnaissance

Ah boy – with all the Germans up to sneaky tricks, it’s time for some British response. And what better than to bring in a real life Super Solider. Scots and Yorks maybe be joined by her (and other SSR personnel) depending on any possible threat, ready to assist with any sneaky Nazi tricks. By hitting them. And… honestly, not that happy with how she turned out. I think the model is great. Skull Forge Studios are really knocking it out the park with their multiverse sculpts – each pack is $8.50 and comes with a variety of poses. This…
