I am a keen fan of the CVR(T) family of vehicles, tiny armoured fighting vehicles which the British have been using since the 1970s and are still (with some tweaks and upgrades) in service with the British Army today. Maybe its from having a diecast one as a toy as a child or maybe the fact it looks like a sports car of the tank world. Either way, getting some in 28mm was one of my goals. One downside of not really going to wargames clubs anymore is that I can no longer rely on their vast collections of terrain. I’ve slowly been building up my own stockpile of things in addition to the literal pile of buildings I have, adding some lichen, scatter and trees to the boxes to add to the game. Thanks to the Dastardly Regular Opponent, I got a Rubicon M5A1 kit. Seeing as my Churchill Tank platoon may need some recce boys to watch up ahead, I immediately jumped in to getting it built up! As you might expect from Rubicon, it’s a pretty fantastic kit. Yesterday was Vapa in York, the first one since 2020. It was good to see the show return – it’s one of the first of the year and among my favourites, a place to catch-up and see people or find out the new release gossip. This year it seemed to be running at 75%, with a few notable people missing (such as the old standby Empress) and a lot more space to move around.
