As always, thanks to the members of the Special Projects and Logistics Group, News Fans and all the other patrons over on the ChargeBlog Patreon – they buy my time to make this wrap-up each week, letting me take the time to gather all the news, check the details on them and prepare them in one single place. If you like these roundups and find them useful, why not chip in on Patreon and help to keep them going?

If you’re looking for greater insight into the Ultramodern Wargaming space than the SPOTREP series of articles is a great place to jump in. Available to Patrons of the ChargeBlog Patreon, the quarterly update linked above provides plenty of detail on the current state of the market, as well as the current thoughts on the various companies and rulesets in the space.

Wargaming3D’s Demise Has Been Greatly Exaggerated

Well, we start off with some good news! Turns out Wargaming3D is NOT being shut down after all. Due to an outpouring of support from the community, WG3D has reached a provisional agreement to keep the site alive and trading. Instead of a full shutdown, the transfer of ownership will mean a temporary shutdown between the 31st of May 2026 and the 1st of July 2026, at which point sales will return. This is good news, and I’m sure very welcome for plenty of creators.

Spectre Miniatures Previews, Previews and Zeds!

Spectre Miniatures kicks off this week’s update with a pile of stuff from the Patreon, such as some new zombies. Seems like we’ll be getting plenty of zombies coming up, with a living (ironically) release that will expand as more are added. This first set includes a businessman, a cop, and a hazmat figure, but there are plenty more on the way.

As someone less interested in zombies, I’m more intrigued by the first PLA Agitator figure that was shown off. Clothing looks to be the typical civilian tactical, based on the outline, but the gun is very interesting. Mostly because it’s not technically a gun (or firearm) – it’s a coil gun. You may have seen Forgotten Weapons showing off a few models a few years ago, but it seems that the Chinese have shown off a more advanced model than those hobby projects. Silent, with a high rate of fire and variable power, coil guns are definitely an interesting future weapon that does fit within Spectre’s modern-day and a bit beyond wheelhouse. With this as the opening weapon, I’m interested to see what the rest of the team has.

We’ve also had a few additional teases of what’s coming next – there are a few solo Rangers coming with additional weapons, while June will be heavy with multiple British sets (Royal Marines, Paras, a Javelin Section, a Challenger 3 and potentially a group from the Ranger Regiment). However, the biggest news coming soon has to be Prairie Fire, an upcoming game coming from Spectre that will take players into the Vietnam War. More details on this are still coming (we only had the initial news and previews earlier on the day of the writing), so what exact form Prairie Fire will take is still not confirmed. However, the first set (a team of early MACV-SOG) may give some clues – I can guess it might be looking into sneaking around the jungles with small elite teams (as is the Spectre way). This first team has a cool mix of weapons, as you might expect from the SOG boys: these are US soldiers, using the Swedish-K and a suppressed M3 grease gun. There is even one figure in NVA/VC clothing with a Type 56 to look the part and a Welrod for popping isolated enemy soldiers. If you’re interested in these figures, you can sign up for a pre-order over on the Spectre website with the full launch kicking off on the 18th of June.

Austin Miniatures and BattleTribe Release Beta Rules For Red Jungle

Speaking of the Jungles of Vietnam, the long-awaited Red Jungle has released a beta set of its rules. Developed by Austin Miniatures and Battle Tribe, this Weird Vietnam War skirmish game (although the official title suggests we might see action elsewhere than the jungles of Vietnam) is heading for a Kickstarter in the Summer. However, for those interested in giving it a go and seeing what sort of game it is, there are now beta rules on the Red Jungle Facebook page and Discord. They are currently a collection of images rather than a nice PDF, but if you’re interested in taking a look, join one of the pages above and jump in.

Miska Miniatures Red Dawn Intervention Enters Final Hours

Miska Miniatures‘ latest Kickstarter, “Red Dawn Intervention“, is in its final hours. At the time of writing, it’s at 1822% funded, with almost all the stretch goals unlocked (only the LRAC-89 anti-tank weapon and a Combat Engineer are missing). It’s safe to say this project has gone well, so we can expect to see the figures coming out in the next few weeks. However, the project will be running until late on the Sunday after this post goes live, so if you want to pick up your own South Africans, you can sign up on the Kickstarter page.

Pegasus Miniatures Reveal Final Miniatures And Announce Launch Date

Pegasus Miniatures has slowly been rolling out the first figures for their range, and last Sunday, we got the final member of the 14 INT (DET) team. We’ve seen a gradual escalation in firepower, from pistols and SMGs up to Assault Rifles. Now, the last member of the British Army Intelligence is running with a G3K, a shortened battle rifle, ideal for smashing its way through barriers and winning the fight (if you can withstand the recoil and considerable blast of 7.62mm out of a 322mm barrel).

Now that we have seen the entire range, it’s a pretty impressive start for a brand-new company. The set of 8 figures (9 if you include the extra variant of the female figure) is perfect for the small-scale battles that Pegasus Miniatures intends to play with in its upcoming ruleset “Contact, Wait Out”. It also looks like this would be a good starting point for a range that could go further, with plenty of options to expand on both the 14 INT and Paramilitary sides (and, thanks to the sculpting from Flank March Miniatures’ Stefan, will also look pretty good alongside the British Army range from Flank March and Full Metal Miniatures). The big news, of course, is that Pegasus Miniatures is going live with these figures on Tuesday, the 30th of June, with more updates coming soon.

Urban Scatter Gaming Releases May Releases to Patrons

Good news to all Urban Scatter Gaming patrons, it’s delivery weekend! Anyone already backing should have received an email from USG with links to the various tiers. This month is a pretty good set of releases, no matter what tier you jump in at, based on the list below:

  • Builder
    • City Corner Building
    • City Water Towers
  • Designer
    • Jewellery Store add-on
    • Pharmacy add-on
    • Security Shutters

If any of these sound good to you, you have a few days to quickly jump in and get the new releases by signing up over on Patreon. Next month, we’re onto a new theme

Modern Miniatures Previews June Releases

Finally, Modern Miniatures finishes off this week’s edition with some painted previews of the different releases kicking off next month. All of these have been previewed, but it’s nice seeing them all together.

At the terrain/vehicle tier on Patreon, this month is all about Crime. We’ve got an Italian Sports Car to zoom your heroes around town, a 1990s era money truck for the criminals to rip off and a collection of loose money piles, a money cart and a safe to fight around (the money bags we’ll see later). This is a pretty solid set for kicking off some gameplay, ideal when mixed with previous Modern Miniatures releases (or other urban terrain).

On the Figures side, we have both sides of the crime war. For the good guys, we have a pair of undercover detectives who may seem a little familiar. They come in two variants: the classic Miami Vice with era-appropriate firearms and a more modern version. Of course, you also need a villain to go up against – in this case, one figure with an Uzi, the other ready rolling with an M16.

These tiers are on Patreon, so if you want them, don’t forget to sign up in June to get your hands on them.

Over on MyMiniFactory, June’s Tribe release will give you some goons to deal with. This pack comes with two sets of figures – one set is wearing boiler suits and slung duffle bags (ideal for heisters) while the other is dressed up in high vis vests. However, both sets are armed to the teeth, with a wide mixture of weapons ranging from the usual AK and M16 all the way up to AA12s and P90s. Both sets also offer a mix of modular heads, giving you even more options to theme your force. The tribes tier also includes the money sacks shown earlier, ideal for a few more pieces of scatter.

If you want these goons for your table, you can find them over on MyMiniFactory from the start of June.

Of course, if you are a REAL news fan, there is a higher tier for the News Fan. For ยฃ5 a month (or ยฃ1.25ish a post), you can guarantee youโ€™ll get your weekly dose of news updates and keep me going.

If you really want to help keep this site running, you can join the Special Projects and Logistics Group for ยฃ7.50 a month. This gives you access to a whole host of additional blog content – more in-depth analysis on the news, SPOT-REPs to act as a guide to the industry, updates on various projects I’m personally working on (such as the ChargeReal or Project Elements) or even more unannounced items coming soon. For less than ยฃ2 a week, this tier will make sure you see everything I get up to on the blog, perfect for someone wanting a finger on the pulse of the Ultramodern niche.
