Adventures in Wargaming

Half of June is over, the summer is basically here and there is a pile of new updates from Ultramodern Wargaming. Read on for all the latest in previews, releases and more!
In 2021, I started developing a fictional world to set my wargames in. After writing up a starter post, detailing some of the Bazi nations and then actually getting a few games in, I took a little break to work on Gunslinger and its real-world but future setting. Well, now I’m back, planning to develop my setting further and (more importantly for you, the reader) actually get the information out there. I’ve always been a keen reader of Osprey’s series of books, with copies filling my shelf and PDFs my Google Drive – what could be a better goal for…

As I mentioned in my last post about Warcry, many of my regular opponents (specifically the Dastardly and the Corporate) play games with me in situations where something easy to setup and hit the table is handy. Starting late at night or trying to get into a lunch break game during a work day requires a certain speed of play but also an ease in picking forces and running, as well as carefully looking at the mental load of a game – something with too much paperwork or tokens can actually be a little much if you want the drive…

Last weekend was Vapnartak in York and, as much as I enjoy the show, I mainly use it as an excuse to gather my Regular Opponents together so we can disappear off to the nearby scout hut and take part in one of our game days. In the past we’ve used this place to play Chain of Command on a big table, a mix of Too Fat Lardies things and more. This year, the plan was Tanks – specifically lots of tanks and the Too Fat Lardies game “What a Tanker”. My original plan of taking the week to prepare…
Hi everyone! As you may have seen, since July last year I’ve been working closely with Anton and Kim at Flytrap Digital and Dan at Desk-Ops on the Gunslinger 2030 range (if you haven’t I have some questions about my engagement numbers). This range has been a fantastic opportunity to get on the other side of the table from usual impression pieces and be the one helping to make them go from concept to real physical objects I’ve painted. In the seven months we have been doing Gunslinger, we released over 71 figures, 50 unique heads across 5 factions in…
